Nonprofit executives are expected to hold a lot at once.
The mission. The people. The board. The finances. The strategy. The decisions no one else can make. The difficult conversations. The questions about what comes next.
And because you are the leader, there are often very few places where you can speak openly, think out loud, admit uncertainty, or ask:
“What would you do?”
Executive Coaching & Advising gives you a confidential, thoughtful space to work through the complexity of leadership with someone who understands nonprofit organizations and understands what it means to be the person responsible for one.
You may be here because...
You are leading a nonprofit and carrying more than most people around you realize.
You are navigating growth, transition, organizational change, or increased complexity.
You have a difficult people, board, or organizational situation and need somewhere to think clearly before deciding what to do.
You are a newer executive who wants to grow into the role with greater confidence and intention.
You are an experienced executive who is capable of making the decision, but tired of making every important decision alone.
You want to become a stronger manager and leader without trying to become someone you are not.
You are questioning what is yours to carry, delegate, change, or let go.
You have good people around you, but you need a space that is focused entirely on your leadership.
Or perhaps nothing is dramatically wrong.
You simply know you could lead more intentionally with the right person beside you.
Strong leaders still need support.
Coaching when you need reflection.
Advising when you need perspective.
There are moments when the most useful thing I can do is ask a good question, help you slow down, notice a pattern, challenge an assumption, or give you space to find your own answer.
That is coaching.
There are other moments when you need someone to say:
“Here is what I’m seeing.”
“Here are the options I would consider.”
“I think this is actually an organizational problem, not a leadership failure.”
“I would approach this differently.”
That is advising.
I bring both.
My goal is not to make decisions for you. It is to help you become clearer about the decisions that are yours to make and more confident making them.
What we can work on together
Leadership Confidence & Identity
Develop a leadership approach that feels grounded in who you are rather than trying to imitate someone else’s version of executive leadership.
Priorities, Capacity & Boundaries
Get clearer about what truly requires your attention, what belongs to someone else, and how to lead without becoming the permanent answer to every organizational problem.
Difficult
Decisions
Think through complex situations involving people, strategy, finances, boards, programs, growth, or organizational risk with an experienced and objective thought partner.
Boards & Organizational Dynamics
Navigate board relationships, leadership-team dynamics, organizational politics, unclear authority, competing expectations, and the interpersonal complexity that often comes with nonprofit leadership.
People & Management
Strengthen your approach to expectations, accountability, feedback, delegation, conflict, executive presence, and leading other leaders.
Growth, Change & What Comes Next
Think intentionally about the organization’s future and your own including growth, succession, restructuring, transition, professional development, and evolving leadership responsibilities.
You do not need to perform leadership here.
One of the hardest parts of executive leadership is that so many conversations require you to already have an answer.
This one does not.
You can bring the situation you have not figured out yet.
The conversation you are dreading.
The decision you keep revisiting.
The concern you cannot appropriately process with your staff.
The idea you are excited about but not ready to share.
The possibility that you might be wrong.
The possibility that something needs to change.
This is your place to think before you have to lead.

What stronger EXECUTIVE Leadership makes possible
Greater clarity
You have a trusted place to sort through competing priorities and make decisions with greater intention.
Greater capacity
Leadership becomes less about personally carrying everything and more about creating the conditions for others and the organization to succeed.
Stronger LEADER. Stronger mission. Greater impact.
When nonprofit leaders are supported, clear, and able to lead with intention, they are better positioned to build organizations capable of carrying their mission forward.
More confidence
Not confidence that you will always be right—but confidence that you can think carefully, respond thoughtfully, learn, and adjust.
Healthier leadership habits
You become better able to delegate, give feedback, establish boundaries, communicate expectations, and recognize what truly belongs to you.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Consulting typically begins with an organizational problem or desired outcome and involves developing or implementing a solution.
Executive Coaching & Advising begins with you as the leader.
We may absolutely discuss organizational problems, but the primary goal is helping you think, decide, communicate, and lead more effectively.
Sometimes our conversations will reveal that an organizational issue needs deeper operational or People & Culture support. If that happens, I will name it rather than trying to solve every organizational problem inside a coaching engagement.
-
My approach includes many elements of executive coaching: reflection, questions, self-awareness, goal setting, and leadership development, but I am also comfortable offering perspective and advice.
I have spent much of my career inside nonprofit leadership, and I believe that experience can be useful.
Sometimes I will ask:
“What do you think?”
And sometimes, if you want it, I will also tell you:
“Here is what I think.”
You remain responsible for your decisions. My role is to help you think more clearly and see possibilities you may not see alone.
-
Anything meaningfully connected to your leadership.
A decision. A conflict. A board issue. A staffing question. A difficult conversation. A professional goal. A confidence issue. An organizational change. A boundary. Something you handled well and want to understand better.
You do not need to arrive with an agenda perfectly prepared.
Sometimes:
“Here’s what happened this week…”
is exactly where we need to begin.
-
Confidentiality is essential to meaningful executive coaching.
We will establish clear confidentiality expectations as part of the engagement. If your organization is paying for coaching, we will also clarify at the outset what, if anything, is communicated to the organization regarding goals, participation, or progress so there are no surprises.
-
This work is particularly useful for nonprofit Executive Directors, CEOs, senior leaders, and leaders stepping into expanded responsibility.
It can be especially valuable during periods of growth, transition, increased complexity, or when the leader simply wants a consistent place to develop their leadership more intentionally.
-
Every coaching and advising relationship begins with an initial 90-day engagement.
That gives us enough time to move beyond a single problem and begin recognizing patterns, practicing different approaches, and building greater clarity and confidence.
At the end of 90 days, we will intentionally evaluate what has been useful and whether continuing the partnership supports your goals.
I want the relationship to remain valuable, not simply become another recurring meeting on your calendar.
You’re allowed to need somewhere to think.
You spend a great deal of your time creating clarity for other people.
You do not always have to create it alone.
Bring the decision, the uncertainty, the leadership challenge, or simply the thing you cannot stop thinking about. We can start there.
Begin with a short inquiry. If it looks like we may be a good fit, you’ll have the opportunity to schedule a complimentary 30-minute introductory conversation.
